This is certainly a blog post we never imagined writing! As for billions of people around the world, the past few weeks have been quite challenging in Israel. This is especially true for small businesses that rely on tourism and foodies who are feeling very cooped up! Lucky for us, Israelis have a great sense of humor when it comes to dealing with tough times. Since we’re all spending so much time on our phones lately, we wanted to share with you our favorite Instagrammers who are keeping us busy in quarantine - with their humor, inspiring us with their recipes and making us hungry with their delicious food photos.

While some chefs and restaurants have reinvented themselves as delivery services during this time, others have gotten even more creative. Our favorite is Chef Nir Mesika who brings Israeli cuisine to NYC with his restaurant, Timna. With restaurants closed, Mesika has rebranded himself as “Romy’s dad, currently cooking haute baby food”. His hilarious stories (make sure you watch - that’s where the real action is) where he cooks, step-by-step, gourmet baby food for his adorable daughter have us in stitches all day, if a little jealous of his ability to make it all look so easy. Lucky for us, Mesika has been posting every day - we can get used to this!

Via Tolila, a team of French-Israeli sisters who are super talented videographers and photographers, has always been one of our Instagram favorites. They combine two things we love in one place - amazingly delicious food and the right photography to capture its deliciousness and give it the respect it deserves. Before the coronavirus era, many of their photographs were of beautiful, sun-soaked Tel Aviv scenes and architecture. With all of us cooped up inside, they haven’t stopped working and have moved on to teaching scrumptious, simple Israeli recipes like tahini milkshakes and shakshuka with easy-as-pie instructions, step-by-step. Not to be missed.

Leora’s infectious enthusiasm for Israeli food, baking talents and love of sweets have been transported to the digital sphere, making her the perfect person to start following right now. Leora has been sharing her adventures with dough while in quarantine, creating beautiful breads, brownies, pizza and so much more. Look at her beautiful food photos and don’t miss the stories for a good laugh. The only downside? Her pictures will make you very hungry.
